Surveillance and Vendor Data Panel
UVA, along with peer institutions and advocacy groups, has been engaging in different ways with concerns about surveillance and library vendors and service providers. This panel, open to the Library and interested collaborators around the University, will bring together some of the continuing interest around the Library on what happens to data collected from and about our users, especially by vendors.
This ScholComm-sponsored panel will be a conversation with each of the following panelists, speaking from their experiences and perspectives:
-Brandon Butler, on University policy and wider legal views
-Judy Thomas, on automatic textbook billing
-Robin Ruggaber, on open infrastructure and IT security
-Tim Morton, on vendor contract language
-Ellen Ramsey, as moderator
