Metagaming Talk with Stephanie Boluk and Patrick LeMieux

Please join us for a talk by Stephanie Boluk and Patrick LeMieux, authors of Metagaming: Playing, Competing, Spectating, Cheating, Trading, Making, and Breaking Videogames.

Their book is a playful and provocative call to stop playing videogames and begin making metagames. Metagaming uncovers alternative histories of play by exploring the strange experiences and unexpected effects that emerge in, on, around, and through videogames. One of the only books to include original software alongside each chapter, Metagaming transforms videogames from packaged products into instruments, equipment, tools, and toys for intervening in the sensory and political economies of everyday life.

There will also be a workshop led by the authors from 2:00 pm -4:00 pm in Alderman, room 421
